VeroPrime is a serum-free, animal component-free, and chemically defined medium that promotes the growth of Vero cells for the production of virus and recombinant proteins. Vero cells are obtained from the kidneys of African green monkeys. The anchorage-dependent Vero cell line has been licensed for the production of live and inactivated viral vaccines.
The Vero cell line is widely accepted by regulatory authorities and has been used for decades in the production of diverse viral vaccines. The regulatory requirements discourage the use of animal products, such as serum, in the process of vaccine production, and they should be avoided. VeroPrime is free of animal and human origin and, therefore, ideal for vaccine production.
