The QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Staining Kit is an all-encompassing kit for labeling live bacterial cells for counting with the QUANTOM Tx™ Microbial Cell Counter. It contains the QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Staining Dye, the QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Dilution Buffer, Dimethyl Sulfoxide, and the QUANTOM™ Cell Loading Buffer I.
The QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Staining Dye is a less toxic derivative of Calcein AM with enhanced cellular retention. QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Staining Dye efficiently labels difficult-to-stain cells, including live bacterial cells. The dye penetrates cells, and in live cells, the intracellular esterases cleave the acetoxymethyl (AM) group, producing the membrane-impermeable fluorescent Calcein.
The Calcein has an optimal excitation/emission wavelength of 496/520 nm. The QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Dilution Buffer improves the fluorescence signal of the cells stained with QUANTOM™ Viable Cell Staining Dye and is used to dilute or wash bacterial cells in preparation. The QUANTOM™ Cell Loading Buffer I is a gradient medium that is used for the even distribution and sedimentation of the bacterial cells in the QUANTOM™ M50 Cell Counting Slides.
