Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) with Earle's Salts was developed by Harry Eagle and, from there, modified in several ways, such as alpha modification, to suit various cell culture applications. It is used to cultivate numerous suspension and adherent cells, including HeLa, HEK 293, BHK-21, HEP-2, HT-1080, MCF-7, fibroblasts, and primary rat astrocytes. MEM powder with Earle's Salts is supplemented with L-Glutamine and comes without Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3).
The powder media can be reconstituted to provide important nutrients for all cell culture applications. The dry powdered cell culture media and buffers are manufactured using the highest quality ingredients. This powder is precisely blended using clean, controlled, state-of-the-art equipment to eliminate contaminating dust and to control the temperature and humidity.
