Insulin Human Recombinant Solution is suitable for various cell culture applications like cultivating mammalian cell lines, such as Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. The human insulin is expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
The molecular weight of insulin is ~5800 Da, and insulin is a two-chain polypeptide hormone produced by the β-cells of pancreatic islets. The α and β chains are joined by two interchain disulfide bonds. The α chain contains an intrachain disulfide bond. Insulin regulates the cellular uptake, utilization, and storage of glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids. Further, insulin inhibits the breakdown of glycogen, fat, and protein.
