Genomic DNA is efficiently removed using a precolumn included in the kit, eliminating the need for DNase I digestion. RNA is then selectively bound to a second Spin Filter membrane, washed, and eluted in 30–80 μl of RNase-free water. Depending on the sample type, the entire extraction process can be completed in just 15–40 minutes.
Both the protocol procedures and the Spin Filter columns have been optimized compared to the previous version and guarantee improved quality and higher quantity of isolated nucleic acid. For optimal lysis of hard-to-disrupt bacterial strains, the innuPREP Bacteria Lysis Booster is also available as a supplementary reagent.
