Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) Low Glucose is a widely used standard cell culture medium. It provides basic nutrients for the growth of various mammalian cell lines, especially when supplemented with Fetal Bovine Serum. In the past, DMEM was shown to successfully cultivate primary cells, such as fibroblasts, HUVECs, neurons, smooth muscle cells, or even cell lines, such as HEK-293, HeLa, Cos-7, and PC-12. DMEM comes in various formulations, in which the composition of components may differ.
The original formulation of DMEM contains 1.0 g/L. This formulation of DMEM contains 1.0 g/L and comes with stable glutamine and Sodium Pyruvate. Stable glutamine (also L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine) is a direct substitute for L-glutamine and has an increased stability.
