Many applications use the standard concentration of 1.5 mM MgCl2. However, reactions with higher amounts of template (such as genomic DNA), primers, and nucleotides might require higher MgCl2 concentrations. The 50 mM MgCl2 solution can therefore be used to adjust magnesium chloride to the optimal concentration.
